There is a great saying by John Dewey “Education is not preparation for life. Education is life itself.”

As a premier Educational Organisation KVS has the child as its centre in planning its programmes. Curricular and co curricular activities are planned in the Vidyalaya which aims at facilitating a holistic development of the child keeping the child as the centre and real education as the focus.

There was an untiring effort of the people’s representatives Sri. Jose K Mani Hon’ble MP Kottayam and Sri Mons Joseph Hon’ble MLA Kaduthuruthy along with a group of local aspirants to get a Kendriya Vidyalaya sanctioned in this location for quite some time. As a culmination of their effort, 8 acres of land at Kaduthuruthy was allotted for the KV and on the execution of lease deed for the same KVS sanctioned the new KV on   29-05-2015.  To start the KV, Sri Reji V R Nath, Vice Principal, KV INS Dronacharya was deputed as Incharge Principal and Mr. Jose Thomas, LDC of KV Ernakulam as office staff.  They along with Sri. Johnson Mathew, Assistant Commssioner, KVS RO Ernakulam reached HNL Velloor and visited the proposed temporary accommodation at the old CISF complex on 3/6/15. Hon’ble MP Kottayam and MLA Kaduthuruthy were also present on the occasion. As the proposed building was in an uninhabitable condition and requires extensive repair and renovation it was suggested by the Hon’ble MLA to start the KV temporarily at the nearby St. Mary’s training college Managed by Rev. Fr. George C Chalapuram. Rev. Fr. Chalapuram being a true educationist was magnanimous to permit us to use the building and premises of St. Mary’s training college till the proposed temporary building is renovated. The office of the KV started functioning in a Staff Quarters allotted for the purpose by HNL wef 03-06-2015 and later shifted to St. Mary’s Training College. We are highly indebted to Rev. Fr. Chalapuram for his kindness in extending his selfless support for a social cause.

We started the admission process with the issue of registration forms on 15th June 2015. The response from the parents was overwhelming with registration of 1526 forms for class I to V. The registration forms were processed as per KVS admission guidelines and candidates were admitted.  In the mean time the required minimum basic amenities were arranged and we could start the classes from 3rd August 2015. As we had only 7 months left to complete the curriculum we had to modify it slightly without making any compromise on quality. We encourage all the children to accept responsibility for their learning and behaviour, and to become confident, independent, creative thinkers who will contribute to a just society. At the end of the academic year we are extremely thrilled to see our parents happy and satisfied by the overall improvement in our children. With all its memories, accolades and excellence the KV has carved a niche in the heart of every individual of KV Kduthuruthy Family.

The credit goes to the dedicated team of teachers we got last year.  Sri. John C Varghese of KV RB Kottayam was the first person to join on deputation to help from the time of admission. Later Smt Lovely Thomas of KV No.1 Naval Base, Smt. Reena Paul Palal of KV PT Kochin and Smt Gorette Betty of KV No 2 Naval Base were deputed to the Vidyalaya. On the repatriation of Sri. We are also thankful to Sri P P Benny PRT (Music) of KV Ernakulam and Sri. Venu PRT(Music) of KV RB Kottayam who served the Vidyalaya even though for a short period of time. We remember with gratitude Sri. Sreenath HM KV Kannur who managed the Vidyalaya extremely well even though for a short spell during my absence. We are also thankful to Mr. Jose Thomas our office staff for all the logistic support.

We had a walk in interview to prepare a panel of contractual teachers for the academic year on 30-07-2015 and we were really fortunate to get three highly experienced and talented teachers like Sri Mathew M Sam, Sri K K Thomas and Smt Vidya S.

Cubs and Bulbul:

The scouting and guiding programmes help to develop youth who have high degree of self reliance, initiative, courage and resourcefulness. Cubs and Bulbul is the primary wing of scout and guide movement. I am happy to inform you that 50 Students of our Vidyalaya joined the movement and activities were organized regularly. We organized a Cubs and Bulbul Utsav as an one day camp on 19-12-2015.

Under the common minimum programme for Primary we organsied Community lunch, Children’s day celebrations and no bags day. All students of the Vidyalaya were taken for a one day field trip to different locations. Children’s films bought from Children’s Film Society of India were screened for the kids once in a month.  Hindi week, Vigilance awareness week, Sadbhavana divas etc. were observed with variety programmes. We also celebrated all the important festivals like onam, Christmas etc and national days like Independence day, Republic day etc. with full enthusiasm.

In this occasion may I also inform you that the renovation of our temporary accommodation at the old CISF building was taken up by the state PWD with Rs.75 Lakhs sanctioned by State Govt. By the end of February they completed the work allotted. We are thankful to the Hon’ble MP Sri. Jose K Mani and MLA Sri. Mons Joseph for their efforts in getting the work done. To make the building and premises suitable for the functioning of the KV we requested the PTA to take up the remaining work. The PTA under the leadership of its secretary Sri John T Paul took up the work on a war footing with the contribution from all the parents. Thanks to them we could start the new academic session 2016-17 in the renovated building. The kind of co-operation extended by the PTA is commendable and we are really grateful to them. In this occasion I should also not forget the cooperation extended by our sister Vidyalayas in Ernakulam cluster. To impart computer education to our children we received 7 computers from Kendriya Vidyalaya Ernakulam and 3 computers from KV INS Dronacharya on loan basis. Similarly we receive all the support and guidance from our neighboring KVs and our Regional Office.

I will be failing in my duty if I don’t make reference to the contributions made by honorable District Collector Kottayam and RDO Pala who are the chairman and nominee chairman of the Vidyalaya Management committee.  The chairman and the nominee chairman have been a great support in various activities of the Vidyalaya and a great source of guidance in every field.

Dear parents, we are proud of our students and staff members for their hard work, devotion and commitment. I wish and pray that KV Kaduthuruthy reaches greater heights in its march towards excellence.
